Outdoor Homes Needed for Area Feral Cats

RMACA seeks outdoor homes for local feral cats that can no longer live in their territories. All cats will be disease-tested, vaccinated and spayed/neutered prior to relocation. Those interested must be willing to feed, water and shelter the cats. In return, properties will be mouse-free. Adoption fees will be waived. For more information, contact RMACA at 303.623.0765 or at rescue@rmaca.org.

Cat Paw This Month's Featured Cats: Cat Paw

Heather & Ginger

Coming SoonTwo are better than one! That's OUR motto because we are sisters. We were rescued after living on the streets - and we just don't know what we'd do without each other! They call us tortoise shells. Now, we thought that was something with a big shell that lumbered around and poked its head and legs in and out of its shell. Guess not - seems that our basic black coloring with smatterings of orange is what these folks are referring to. Anyway, we ARE very pretty!
I'm Heather, the one on the left in the photo. Expect me on your lap whenever I see it vacant. My sister, Ginger, is a little bit shy, but she'll come around once we have a forever home!

Find out how to adopt me.

Cat Paw Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance Cat Paw

The majority of homeless cats in the Denver metro area (estimated 125,000) never make it to a shelter. Unowned, unsocialized, and breeding in perpetuity, unmanaged feral cat colonies experience the worst forms of suffering.

Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance works together with volunteers, veterinarians, and citizens to prevent feral kittens from being born on the street and improve the lives of those already born or abandoned. Each year RMACA, in collaboration with Divine Feline, spays and neuters over 2,000 feral cats, preventing over 50,000 homeless kittens from being born. We are the only organization that specializes in non-lethal population control for feral cats in Colorado's largest metro area.

Please read more About Us and our partnership with Divine Feline to see how much two organizations working together can accomplish!

2006-2007 RMACA Stats

RMACA is a member of the Metro Denver Shelter Alliance. MDSA was formed in 2000 by public and private animal welfare agencies to reduce euthanasia for healthy, adoptable pets.

The Live release Rate reflects the percentage of dogs and cats that are adopted or reunited with their guardians with the help of Metro area shelters and rescue groups.

The table below reflects RMACA’s 2006 and 2007 statistics. Because RMACA is not a shelter, our public intake represents the number of cats that are brought to us through our trap-neuter-return work. The adoption numbers reflect tame cats that were pulled out of colonies and placed into our adoption program as well as feral cats that were relocated to barn homes.

Finally, the return to owner statistic – for RMACA – reflects the number of feral cats that were returned to their colonies after being spayed or neutered.

For more information about MDSA, or for definitions of the statistics, go to www.saverate.org.

The collection and publication of this data is sponsored by Maddie’s Fund. For information about Maddie’s Fund, go to www.maddiesfund.org.
